At the 24th African Athletics Championships currently being hosted by Ghana, Ethiopia shone brightly by sweeping the gold medals in both the men’s and women’s categories of the 20-kilometer race walk competition. With this remarkable victory achieved by the athletes, the country successfully secured its fourth and fifth gold medals of the championships.
In the men's 20km race walk, athlete Misgana Wakuma displayed an outstanding performance to finish in first place. With this victory, Misgana confidently defended his title, winning a gold medal for the second consecutive time on the African Championships stage. Another Ethiopian athlete competing in the same event, Abduselam Abdulwahab, secured third place to bring home a bronze medal for his country.
Meanwhile, in the women's 20km race walk, athlete Wubalem Shgute demonstrated her exceptional readiness and capability. Dominating the race to cross the finish line first, she claimed the gold medal. Representing their country in the same event, athlete Hiwot Ambaw finished fourth, while athlete Mare Bitew took eighth place, both successfully completing their competition.
This double gold and bronze medal triumph in the race walk events at the 24th African Athletics Championships has once again highlighted Ethiopia's athletic dominance on the continental stage.
