May 16, 2026 44

The Gelan Gura Industrial Park, built on 93.9 hectares of land in the Akaki Kality Sub-City, has been officially inaugurated, ushering in a new industrial era for Ethiopia. The park represents a grand vision signaling an economic revolution rather than a mere construction project. Its primary objectives are to elevate local products to global competitiveness, strengthen the manufacturing sector, and foster national pride by achieving successful technology transfer.

The first phase of the park has been completed and is now ready for service. Lot One features 68 textile and garment manufacturing units, as well as 248 production and raw material warehouses. Additionally, the installation of modern CCTV cameras, advanced elevators, and state-of-the-art fire safety systems ensures a highly secure and contemporary working environment for young professionals. Looking forward, ongoing construction in Lot Three includes six massive sheds specifically designated for metal, wood, and chemical processing.

This landmark project is set to create massive opportunities for 18,000 to 20,000 young technical and vocational professionals, allowing them to transform their skills into national wealth. Ultimately, the Gelan Gura Industrial Park is far more than just a cluster of factories; it is a space where the youth can learn, contribute to their nation, and write a new chapter in history. Serving as a beacon of hope for small and medium-sized enterprises, this project is positioned to leave a lasting legacy that will transform Addis Ababa’s industrial journey.
