Addis Ababa’s Urban Glow-Up Becoming A Blueprint for the World, Says British Journalist

The urban development work carried out in Addis Ababa teaches a lesson to the world that it is possible to build cities that are convenient and comfortable for citizens, said British journalist Daniel Karl.

He also stated that the commitment of leaders was crucial for Addis Ababa to be developed to this level of beauty.

Having dusted off yesterday’s grime to match her name with her actions, Addis Ababa has gone beyond being an example for regional cities; her name has crossed horizons and resonated among the world's leading nations in every field.

It seems this is why international scholars have even begun conducting studies, asking: how did the Addis Ababa that for many years coexisted with heavy traffic congestion and waste manage to live up to her name in such a short period?

A book jointly published and launched by eight scholars and journalists based in the UK serves as evidence of this.

According to journalist Daniel, who is one of the contributors to the study, the urban development construction Addis Ababa has achieved in a short time has placed the city, which we knew just a few years ago—among the ranks of cities that the entire world eagerly desires to see.

As journalist Daniel explained, having a leader with a great vision, who strives to lay down a legacy for the next generation beyond today, has proven to be the game-changer for the city to transform to this extent.

"The urban development works that have been executed have revealed to the world an Addis Ababa that now matches her name with her deeds," said journalist Daniel, adding that she serves as a practical model, particularly for African leaders, on how to build their cities to a standard that fits their citizens, AMN reported.
