A delegation of Ethiopian youth has finished in first place in the People's Choice Award category at the International Youth Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Championship.

The Ethiopian competitors achieved remarkable success at the Robofest 2026 International Championships, which was held at Lawrence Technological University in Michigan, USA.

In this year's competition, the Ethiopian youth went head-to-head against 738 teams from 39 technologically advanced nations to secure victories across multiple categories.

In addition to taking the top spot for the People's Choice Award, the Ethiopian team finished 5th in the Medical Robotics category and 6th in the Innovation Exhibition category.

This achievement follows another recent success; just last month, Ethiopian youth put their country on the map by securing 2nd place at the International Minoan Robotics Championship held in Greece, ENA reported.
