Dubai Chamber of Commerce Strengthens Economic Ties With Ethiopia Via Trade Mission

May 22, 2026 19

The Dubai Chamber of Commerce has concluded a trade mission to Ethiopia aimed at deepening economic ties and facilitating partnerships between the two business communities. The mission included a series of bilateral meetings and the "Dubai–Ethiopia Business Connect" forum, held in collaboration with the UAE Embassy in Addis Ababa, the Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations, and the Ethiopian Investment Commission.

Representing a diverse range of industries, including construction, pharmaceuticals, food and beverages, and textiles, a delegation of 21 Dubai-based companies explored market entry pathways and investment prospects with local counterparts. During the forum, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce highlighted the emirate’s competitive advantages as a global trade hub, while representatives from the Ethiopian Investment Commission outlined the growing investment landscape within Ethiopia.

The mission takes place amid a surge in bilateral economic activity, with non-oil trade between Ethiopia and Dubai reaching AED 22.3 billion in 2025, a year-on-year increase of 236.6%. The business relationship is further evidenced by a growing Ethiopian presence in Dubai; as of the end of the first quarter of 2026, there were 1,676 active Ethiopian companies registered with the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, with 91 new firms joining during that quarter alone.

Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers, reaffirmed the organization's commitment to strengthening these economic links and creating new channels for private sector cooperation. Established in 1965, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce operates under the Dubai Chambers umbrella to support the business community, advocate for member interests, and promote the emirate as a premier global business hub.
