Africa's Leaders Gather In Ghana To Forge Unity, Prosperity

African continent, heads of state, party leaders, and dignitaries converged today at the Accra International Conference Centre for the African Political Parties Summit 2025.

The three-day event, themed "From Politics to Prosperity: Strengthening Inter-Party Collaboration for Africa's Development and Economic Transformation," seeks to address obstacles and identify opportunities for sustainable progress.

The summit commenced with an official opening ceremony featuring welcome remarks, high-level statements, and a cultural performance.

Key dignitaries present included the host President, John Dramani Mahama of Ghana, alongside other prominent figures from continental and international institutions.

The initial session was marked by interfaith prayers and a moment of silence to honour fallen heroes.

Following the opening, dignitaries delivered remarks including statements by Jeff Radebe, Ms. Benedicta Lasi, and Fiifi Flavi Kwetey.

Solidarity messages were delivered by Chung Eui-yong (ICAPP) and Rose Mbabazi on behalf of Paul Kagame(COPPAAAL).

Ibrahim Adem Farah, Carlos Manuel Vila Nova also delivered statements.

President Mahama delivered the keynote address.

The summit schedule highlights the "High-Level Dialogue with African Political Leaders" which promises robust conversations on "The Role of Political Parties in Shaping Development and Economic Transformation in Africa." Attendees will discuss the evolving responsibilities of political parties in long-term national vision, economic reform, and democratic consolidation.

The dialogue aims to demonstrate how value-driven political leadership can propel transformation, industrialisation, and social equity.

The African Political Parties Summit 2025 concludes on August 14th.

It is anticipated to lay the groundwork for increased unity and accelerated development.
