Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has officially inaugurated the new Negele Borena Geda Airport, marking it as Ethiopian Airlines’ 24th domestic destination.

Built to host advanced aircraft, including the Boeing 737 Max, the modern station will immediately launch three weekly flights. These operations are intended to catalyze local commerce, cross-border trade, and tourism.

Highlighting the impact of such infrastructure, the Prime Minister noted that every new runway bridges a gap, unlocks regional economic potential, and brings people closer together. He further recognized the national flag carrier, now in its 80th year, as “The New Spirit of Africa.”
