The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) has been overseeing the voting process for the 7th general election since polls opened at 6:00 AM this morning, Monday, June 1, 2026.

Based on reports submitted by its field monitoring teams, the Board has reached a decision.

In accordance with Article 49(4) of the Electoral, Political Parties Registration and Election Ethics Proclamation No. 1162/2011, and with the conviction that this extension will further ensure the fairness and integrity of the election, the Board has announced that voting hours have been extended until midnight (6:00 PM local time) for all polling stations where the voting process has not yet been completed.

Furthermore, the Board has instructed election officials at polling stations where all registered voters have already cast their ballots to proceed with the vote counting process.
