Ministry of Peace, Russian Orthodox Church Delegation Discuss Bilateral Relations

Minister of Peace Mohammed Idris received and held discussions with a delegation led by His Eminence Metropolitan Anthony Sevryuk, Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Russian Orthodox Church, at his office.

During the discussion, Mohammed Idris highlighted the strong, historic, and unique peaceful coexistence that has existed for centuries between the two nations, their peoples, and their respective churches. According to information from the Ministry of Peace, the minister emphasized that this close historical bond, which serves as a model for the world, holds significant value for future cooperation and joint efforts.

Metropolitan Anthony Sevryuk of Volokolamsk, who also serves as the Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, expressed his deep joy and honor in visiting Ethiopia—a historic land frequently mentioned in the Holy Scriptures—for the first time.

The chairman noted that the ties between the Russian and Ethiopian Orthodox Churches are long-standing. He stated that this connection serves as a reliable guarantee for great future hope and cooperation between the two churches, as well as between the two nations.
