While touring the sprawling construction site alongside senior government officials earlier today, the prime minister highlighted the unprecedented scale of the development. The site, which functions like a small city, currently employs over 8,000 workers and operates nearly 4,000 pieces of heavy machinery within a 30-kilometer radius. The operational intensity is immense, with the machinery consuming over 650,000 liters of fuel daily, requiring up to 7 million liters every ten days.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the true measure of this project lies not merely in its budget or initial concept but in the efficiency of its leadership and execution. Historically, Ethiopia has faced challenges where development projects were plagued by delays, cost overruns, and a lack of clear timelines, which often resulted in a failure to meet quality standards.
