Ethiopia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, Ambassador Tsegab Kebebew held talks with UNHCR Commissioner Barham Salih ahead of World Refugee Day, during which the two sides reaffirmed their commitment to refugee protection and inclusion.

Commissioner Salih commended Ethiopia’s longstanding humanitarian commitment and leadership in hosting refugees, while Ambassador Tsegab reaffirmed Ethiopia's commitment to its humanitarian obligations, and underscored the need for enhanced international support to complement the efforts of refugee-hosting countries.

The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation, promoting international solidarity and responsibility-sharing, and advancing durable solutions for refugees and host communities. The meeting reaffirmed the strong partnership between Ethiopia and UNHCR.
