Prosperity Party Wins 438 Seats in Ethiopia’s 7th General Election

The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) has officially released the final results of the country’s 7th general election. During an announcement ceremony in Addis Ababa, NEBE Deputy Chairperson Tesfaye Neway confirmed the verified results, declaring that the ruling Prosperity Party has secured 438 seats in the House of Peoples' Representatives.

In addition to the Prosperity Party's majority, other political organizations also gained parliamentary representation. The Ethiopian Citizens for Social Justice (EZEMA) secured 13 seats, while the National Movement of Amhara (NAMA) won 6 seats. Furthermore, Medrek obtained 3 seats in the Sidama region. The board noted that various other parties and independent candidates also successfully won parliamentary seats through their respective constituencies.

The results announcement event was attended by President Taye Atske Selassie, along with representatives from various political parties, civil society organizations, diplomatic missions, and the media.
