Following the official announcement of the 2018 national election results by the National Election Board of Ethiopia, the Ethiopian Citizens for Social Justice (EZEMA) party has issued a formal statement acknowledging the conclusion of the electoral process. The party congratulated the nation on the peaceful completion of the elections, despite noting that the process was not without its challenges.

EZEMA announced that it has emerged as the leading competing party nationally, securing a total of 86 seats—13 in the House of Peoples' Representatives and 73 across regional and city councils. The party leadership extended its congratulations to its candidates, members, and supporters for achieving this result.

In its statement, the party pledged to immediately begin evaluating its performance to build upon its strengths and address past gaps through strategic initiatives. EZEMA committed to fulfilling its role as a robust competing force, promising to continue collaborating with other political entities on national interests while maintaining a focus on fostering a healthy, modern political culture characterized by civil discourse and constructive criticism.

The party also offered congratulations to the Prosperity Party for its victory, as well as to all other competing parties that secured public representation.

Closing its statement, EZEMA called upon the governing party to commit to the development of democratic institutions and the creation of an equitable political environment. The party urged the government to remain open to alternative viewpoints, acknowledging that ideas beneficial to Ethiopia’s growth can originate from any side, and encouraged the administration to handle criticism with patience to collectively build the democracy the nation requires through healthy competition.
