Ethiopia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and COP32 President-Designate, Gedion Timothewos, called for a renewed focus on international cooperation and policy continuity to strengthen global climate efforts during a Chatham House discussion at London Climate Action Week.
Highlighting Ethiopia’s own significant climate track record, Minister Gedion outlined his vision for COP32, emphasizing that the summit will prioritize building upon the leadership and outcomes of COP31, which is to be co-hosted by Türkiye and Australia. He underscored that this strategy is rooted in the Ethiopian principle of Medemer—a collaborative approach dedicated to working alongside predecessors to forge stronger collective action and restore confidence in the multilateral climate process.
