The European Union (EU) has announced that the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) is in violation of the Pretoria permanent cessation of hostilities agreement.
In a statement addressing the situation in Northern Ethiopia, the EU indicated that the TPLF’s move to establish a parallel regional council, coupled with the enforcement of forced military recruitment in the Tigray region, constitutes a clear breach of the provisions outlined in the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement (CoHA).
Expressing deep concern over these developments, the EU reaffirmed its full support for the African Union-led mediation efforts aimed at securing lasting peace and stability in Northern Ethiopia.
