In an interview with the Oromia Broadcasting Network, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) stated that TPLF has violated the Pretoria Peace Agreement.

Addressing the group’s preparations for renewed conflict, the prime minister explained that TPLF remains trapped in a half-century-old political mindset, clinging to outdated ideologies and leadership styles.

He pointed out a stark irony: despite having governed the country for 27 years before stepping down, the group still views itself as a "liberation front." Instead of working for the benefit of the Tigrayan people, he noted, it continues to fiercely pursue its own narrow, factional interests.

Furthermore, the prime minister warned that TPLF is actively working to dismantle the nation. To achieve this, it is exploiting armed factions in other parts of the country—treating them merely as disposable tools rather than equal partners.

Emphasizing the reality on the ground, he highlighted that the Tigray region is currently entirely self-governing. Neither the federal government nor any other entity has taken a single meter of its land or resources. This, he underscored, clearly proves that the group’s latest maneuvers are not driven by any genuine public demands.

Instead, he argued, the group is acting as an instrument for Ethiopia's historical foreign enemies, advancing their long-term strategic ambitions to weaken and fracture the country.

The Prime Minister firmly emphasized that the exclusionary tactics the group used to seize power in the late 1980s (E.C.), by marginalizing other nations and nationalities, will absolutely not work today.

He concluded by noting that the current political awareness and active participation of all Ethiopians are vastly different and far more advanced than they were in the past.
