Across various parts of our country, youth and adolescents are entering a deeply meaningful season as they prepare psychologically, materially, and morally for the new academic year, dreaming of returning to their classrooms and building their tomorrow through knowledge. In every region, students have gathered their notebooks and learning supplies, eagerly anticipating the start of a fresh chapter in education.
Yet, this joy and promise remain entirely out of reach for the young people of Tigray. Rather than returning to classrooms, peaceful lives, and bright prospects, the region's youth find themselves trapped in a bitter and horrific reality, hovering between life and death. The bankrupt TPLF faction is openly sabotaging not only the region, but the future hope of these young people. The group's authoritarian and unyielding stance has plunged the region into relentless crisis and chaos, squandering the lives and precious time of the new generation. At a crucial age when youth should be acquiring knowledge, building skills, and growing psychologically, their dreams are being imperiled by political conspiracy and conflict.
Instead of hearing the ring of a school bell, Tigray’s youth are forced to listen to the drums of war, leaving them exposed to severe psychological trauma and profound despair. The scars left on the psyche of tomorrow’s generation will not easily heal. The illegal TPLF continues its malicious campaign of alienating these young people, the nation’s hope from education, progress, and modern knowledge.
In an irresponsible gamble driven solely by the desire to hold onto regional power and prolong its own political survival, this bankrupt group is surrendering Tigray’s young generation to deeper darkness and poverty. Robbing their future at a time when they should be thriving in science, technology, research, and knowledge is a historic mistake, one that harms not only the region’s future development, but the nation's hope for tomorrow. More than political games and stubborn struggles for power, the youth and adolescents of Tigray desperately need peace, education, psychological relief, and a bright horizon.
