Mayor of the Addis Ababa City Administration, Adanech Abiebie, has been honored as an "Early Childhood Development Champion" by the global "Act for Early Years" Initiative.

It was stated that the recognition was awarded in honor of Mayor Adanech's leadership and the city administration's investments in child development, particularly through the "Addis Ababa’s Hope for the Future Early Childhood Development Initiative."

The initiative focuses on placing early childhood at the center of government policies and global investment agendas.

The award was presented on behalf of the initiative's partners by Gordon Brown, former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and United Nations Special Envoy for Global Education, in collaboration with partner organizations including UNICEF and UNESCO.
