Ethiopia's massive, nationwide tree-planting campaign, the Green Legacy Initiative (GLI), has received a major international award, spotlighting the global impact of the program championed by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (Ph.D.) and carried out with annual mass participation across the country.

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), celebrating its 80th anniversary in Rome, granted Ethiopia an international recognition award in the field of "Sustainable Forest Management and Utilization." The FAO highlighted the Green Legacy as a victory achieved by Ethiopians working in unity and one that should serve as a practical learning model for the world.

This award follows the organization's earlier recognition of the Prime Minister, who was previously honored with the esteemed FAO Agricola Medal for his decisive leadership and rapid execution in enhancing food security, improving nutritious food supply, and boosting domestic wheat production.

The closing statement reaffirms the national aspiration: "Ethiopia will live on forever, respected and honored by its children, with its prosperity assured."
