Ethiopia's prominent role in fostering peace and security across the continent is underscored at the 11th Tana Forum, according to Ambassador Nebiyat Getachew, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The three-day, high-level forum commenced today, October 24, and will run through October 26, 2025, in the cities of Bahir Dar and Addis Ababa.

The forum is being held under the theme: "Africa in a Changing Global Order" and brings together a wide range of distinguished participants. Attendees include Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. Gedeon Timothewos, Amhara Regional Chief Administrator Arega Kebede, African Heads of State, as well as officials from continental, regional, and international organizations. The gathering will see the participation of government leaders, ministers, policymakers, researchers, scholars, and key stakeholders.

Ambassador Nebiyat described the Tana Forum as a crucial continental platform for addressing African peace and security challenges and generating action-oriented recommendations.

He explained that the current global landscape is characterized by intensifying political competition and the weakening of multilateral international cooperation. Against this backdrop, the forum will explore Africa's vital role in the evolving world order.

"The Tana Forum's focus is on African solutions," Ambassador Nebiyat stated, clarifying that the platform is dedicated to exchanging and developing peace and security ideas that are purely African-led.

He added that the discussions are expected to produce substantive recommendations to guide African policymakers. According to ENA, a key component of the program is the opportunity for African leaders and experts to share their knowledge and experiences on security matters and Africa-led solutions.
