Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed has announced the construction of over 1,000 mini-stadiums across the city of Addis Ababa.
The prime minister made the statement while providing answers and clarifications to questions from members of Parliament during the 2nd regular session of the 5th year of the 6th House of Peoples' Representatives.
Dr. Abiy explained that the new mini-stadiums in the capital have already strengthened the sense of community and familial cohesion among the city's residents.
Addressing the national sentiment toward football, the prime minister noted, "Every time we watch the African Cup or the World Cup, there is no one who doesn't feel disappointed or frustrated that we are lagging behind in football." He stressed that the government is carrying out extensive work on sports infrastructure to fundamentally change this situation.

The prime minister highlighted that the more than 1,000 mini-stadiums built solely in Addis Ababa are a key component of this national transformation effort. He further emphasized that the new facilities have been instrumental in keeping youth away from harmful activities and boosting family togetherness.
Ultimately, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed indicated that these playing fields are expected to cultivate and produce qualified players for the Ethiopian National Team over the next 10 years.
