Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has concluded a series of high-level bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the G20 Leaders’ Summit, underscoring Ethiopia's commitment to deepening its relationships with the European Union and key member states.
The Prime Minister confirmed the successful engagements via a social media post, highlighting his discussions with the President of the European Council, the President of France, and the German Chancellor.
Deepening Ethio-EU Cooperation
In a crucial meeting, PM Abiy Ahmed held bilateral talks with António Costa, President of the European Council. The leaders focused on the existing robust relations between Ethiopia and the EU.
"Building on existing Ethio-EU relations, I held a bilateral meeting with António Costa, President of the European Council. We reaffirmed our commitment to deepening cooperation between Ethiopia and the European Union across multiple areas," the prime minister stated.

Productive Catch-up with President Macron
Ethiopia's strengthening ties with France were further advanced during a meeting with President Emmanuel Macron.
"Ethiopia-France relations continue to strengthen through ongoing engagements. Accordingly, President Macron and I had the opportunity to meet on the sidelines of the G20 Leaders’ Summit for a productive catch-up," Abiy Ahmed noted.

Strengthening Ties with Germany
The diplomatic engagements also included a meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. The discussion centered on matters of mutual interest and future collaboration.
"Good to meet with Chancellor Friedrich Merz today. We exchanged views on key areas of mutual interest and expressed our shared intention to explore ways to strengthen ties," the prime minister concluded.
These engagements on the global stage signal Ethiopia's active diplomatic push to solidify partnerships vital for development, trade, and regional stability.
