Ethiopian President Taye Atske Selassie has issued a high-profile demand for a fundamental reordering of the global system following the conclusion of the 7th African Union-European Union (AU-EU) Summit held in Luanda.

In a statement posted after the gathering, President Taye asserted that in an era marked by "ever complex and interconnected global challenges," inclusivity and multilateralism remain indispensable. He stressed the compelling need for the international community to work collaboratively to ensure a fair and representative system that guarantees the equal participation of developing countries.

The president’s specific reform agenda focused on three major pillars: achieving a meaningful, permanent African voice in the United Nations Security Council; establishing fairer, more responsive multilateral financial institutions; and fostering a global order that authentically reflects equal participation for all nations.

President Tay's remarks echo a growing collective assertion by African leaders, who are leveraging high-level diplomatic forums like the Luanda summit to press for greater influence and a corrective to historical governance imbalances.
