State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Berhanu Tsegaye, presided over the inauguration and official handover of 20 newly constructed residential houses for vulnerable community members in Dire Dawa. The project, completed just four months after the Ministry of Foreign Affairs laid the foundation stone, was hailed by the Ambassador as a definitive example of words put into action.

The housing initiative was executed under the Winter Volunteer Service Program, a national effort designed to provide essential infrastructure and social support to those in need. The inauguration and handover ceremony were held in the presence of several high-ranking officials, including Minister of Foreign Affairs Gedion Timothewos and the Mayor of the Dire Dawa City Administration, Kedir Juhar. Other notable participants included State Minister Ambassador Hadera Abera, Ethiopia's Ambassador to Kenya Bacha Debele, as well as local religious leaders and community elders.

Ambassador Berhanu emphasized that the Ministry's commitment to the region extends beyond housing. As part of this comprehensive initiative, the government also provided financial support and educational materials to rural female students to ensure they remain in school. Furthermore, the Ambassador noted that the project integrated "Green Legacy"environmental activities, ensuring that the new residential site contributes to the local ecosystem alongside its social impact.
