Ethiopia and the United States have agreed to intensify their joint fight against terrorism to safeguard their respective national interests following high-level military talks in the capital. The agreement was reached during a meeting between Ethiopia's Minister of Defence, Engineer Aisha Mohammed, and General Dagvin R.M. Anderson of the United States Africa Command (US-AFRICOM).
Engineer Aisha stated that the two nations have committed to elevating their growing diplomatic and military ties into a high-level strategic partnership. She noted that the discussions resulted in a mutual understanding to collaborate closely on regional peace and security, with a specific focus on a unified front against terrorist threats. According to the Minister, this strengthened partnership is designed to ensure both countries benefit equally while addressing evolving security dynamics.
General Anderson, whose visit coincided with the 90th-anniversary celebrations of the Ethiopian Air Force, described the occasion as a meaningful opportunity to reflect on historical ties while cementing future cooperation. He emphasised that the visit served as a vital platform for addressing shared regional security challenges and further solidifying the bilateral relationship between Washington and Addis Ababa.
