Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed told Parliament today that the issue of shared waters has become a catalyst for external interference in the Horn of Africa, transforming what should be "mutual support into a source of conflict."
Describing the region as "stitched and patched"to prevent it from unraveling, the Prime Minister emphasized that while water resources have complicated regional relations, he remains confident that ongoing diplomatic efforts will succeed. On the domestic front, PM Abiy pivoted from the region's history of warfare to a future of internal reconciliation, noting that the National Dialogue Commission is now ready to engage a "broad range of participants"to align the nations aspirations.
