"Ethiopia is like the people of Wollo: She says 'Arhibu' to those who come with love, and 'Agaley' to those who come with conflict."— Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD)
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed stated that Ethiopia, much like the people of Wollo, is characterized by its immense hospitality when approached with love, but remains invincible when faced with aggression.
During the inauguration of the Logo Hayik Resort today, the Prime Minister delivered a message intertwining the social values of Wollo with national unity and sovereignty.
He noted that Ethiopia has a deep-rooted culture of extending its hand in a smile and welcoming others with honor—saying "Arhibu"(Welcome)—to those who come in peace. However, he emphasized that the nation will not hesitate for a moment to say "Agaley"(to ward off/defend) against those who seek to disrupt peace or approach with hostility.
"Conflict hinders development and prosperity; it prolongs our journey,"the Prime Minister remarked. "While our preference is to share our bread and say 'Arhibu' to those who come with love, we also know how to say 'Agaley' when provoked—it is part of our Ethiopian blood."
He described the people of Wollo as being renowned for their warmth and inclusivity, calling for these noble values to be channeled into the success of ongoing development projects. He further urged for the collective creation of a beautiful and prosperous Wollo, where opportunities are created for the youth to work in their own country rather than seeking migration.
The Prime Minister concluded this portion of his message by expressing heartfelt gratitude to the "People of Hayik" for the sincere love and respect they showed him.
