Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) stated that to increase the country's agricultural productivity, it is necessary to break the mental boundaries seen regarding cluster farming.
"There is no such thing as fragmented land; there is only a fragmented mind," the Prime Minister said, emphasizing that great change can be achieved if farmers break the boundaries they have created in their thoughts and cultivate the land by connecting it through clusters.
The Prime Minister noted that although the agricultural sector which is vital for Ethiopia's economic growth, previously saw low results due to leadership weaknesses, the results being recorded annually now are amazing.
During his field observation of wheat development in the North Shewa Zone today, PM Abiy pointed out that the process of integrating scattered farmer plots to produce uniform yields serves as an example for other African countries in its scale.
PM Abiy stated that if the capacity to use technology grows, it is possible to harvest 500 million quintals in a short time, for which the roles of farmers, agricultural extension professionals, and leaders are crucial. He particularly urged the leadership to create new systems to efficiently utilize the rainy months and harvest rainwater.
Expressing that Ethiopia has great hope, the Prime Minister said that the government's intervention in the agricultural sector has been proven effective in practice.
"If we plow, finish what we started, and persevere, we will overcome our problems," Prime Minister Abiy said, urging all citizens to spend their time on work and development, recognizing that there is no other way to progress except through hard work.
