Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has announced the release of a special commemorative stamp collection to honor the eight-decade journey of the United Nations. Under the theme "To Live Together in Peace," the collection highlights Ethiopia’s deep-rooted history and future commitment to the global organization.

The four-stamp series chronicles pivotal milestones in the Ethiopia-UN relationship, including:

The signing of the UN Charter in San Francisco in 1945.

The deployment of Ethiopian peacekeepers to the Congo.

And, the hosting of the first-ever UN Security Council meeting on African soil.

According to the Prime Minister, the stamps have been distributed to 192 countries through the International Postal Union as a "lasting tribute to a legacy that belongs to every generation."

In his statement, Prime Minister Abiy also extended his appreciation to UN Secretary-General António Guterres and his team for their leadership in advancing peace, development, and human rights during what he described as one of the most challenging periods in modern history.

"The UN endures because nations keep choosing dialogue over division," the Prime Minister noted, reaffirming that "Ethiopia always will" choose the path of cooperation.
