Millions of Ethiopians began casting their ballots early this morning as the country’s seventh general election officially commenced. Across the nation, polling stations reported a steady stream of voters from all walks of life.
The turnout in the early hours included a diverse cross-section of the population. Mothers arrived at the polls carrying their children on their backs, joining elderly citizens, persons with disabilities, and individuals managing various health conditions, who gathered to participate in the democratic process. Members of the country’s security forces were also seen participating in the vote early in the day.

Voting is currently taking place throughout the country, including in Addis Ababa, regions of Oromia, Sidama, Harari, Afar, Gambella, and Amhara. Citizens are also casting their ballots in localities such as Debre Markos, Wollo, Argoba, Hamer, and Arba Minch, among others.
Election officials have deployed staff to facilitate the process at thousands of stations nationwide, with voting continuing throughout the day as citizens exercise their right to vote.
