Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) has announced that Ethiopia’s annual wheat production has reached 33 million tons, triple the 9.7 million tons previously produced by Egypt, which had held the top position in Africa.
Reflecting on the progress made over the past six years, the Prime Minister noted that while the goal of achieving wheat self-sufficiency was once dismissed as a fantasy, it has now become a tangible reality.
Beyond agriculture, the Prime Minister highlighted advancements in other sectors:
- Construction: The Bishoftu Airport project serves as a model, utilizing AI-assisted quality control for machinery, which has significantly improved efficiency and reduced costs by minimizing the need for manual supervision.
- Defense: Ethiopia has transitioned from merely utilizing drone technology to large-scale domestic manufacturing and export.
These milestones, alongside progress in urban corridor development and the establishment of the AI University, are positioning Ethiopia as a benchmark for productivity and prosperity on the continent.
