Speaking at a diplomatic dinner hosted by Sidara Group and co-organized by the Labour African Network in London and the Ethiopian Embassy, Gedion said the Ethiopia–UK relationship is built not only through official institutions but also through the enduring connections between businesses, educational institutions, diaspora communities, and citizens. He described these people-to-people links as the foundation of a resilient and lasting partnership.

He expressed confidence in Ethiopia’s future, citing the resilience of its people and the growing sense of opportunity across the country.

Looking ahead, Gedion pointed to significant potential for expanded cooperation in trade, investment, education, research, technology, innovation, and climate resilience. Chair of the Labour African Network, Earnest Ambe, in his welcoming speech, commended LAN for helping amplify Africa's voice within UK policymaking, business, and diplomatic circles. He also highlighted Ethiopia’s economic growth as one of Africa's largest and fastest-growing markets.

In his vote of thanks, Ethiopia’s ambassador to the United Kingdom, Biruk Mekonnen, thanked the host, the LAN, and partners for bringing together leaders from government and business to advance stronger UK–Africa engagement. He described the growing Ethiopia–UK relationship as a platform for expanding trade, investment, and innovation, expressing confidence that deeper economic partnerships with Ethiopia and Africa will create new opportunities, shared prosperity, and lasting growth for all.
