The British Ambassador to Ethiopia, Darren Welch, has praised Addis Ababa’s "relentless efforts" and the sacrifices made to maintain stability across the volatile Horn of Africa. Speaking on the growing bilateral ties between the two nations, the Ambassador underscored Ethiopia’s position as a regional heavyweight essential to peace and economic integration.

The endorsement comes on the heels of a landmark visit by the UK Foreign Secretary, Yvette Cooper, who selected Ethiopia as the first destination of her inaugural African tour. Ambassador Welch described the visit as a clear signal of deepening diplomatic relations, noting that recent agreements have paved the way for increased mutual cooperation.

Central to the Ambassador’s remarks was Ethiopia’s ongoing security contribution to neighboring Somalia. Welch expressed profound respect for the "sacrifices" made by Ethiopian forces, stating that such commitment reflects the country’s regional leadership and the priority it places on the stability of its neighbors.
