The Prosperity Party Council has concluded a three-day summit with a primary focus on reinforcing a legal and people centered government and ensuring that Ethiopia's upcoming 7th general election is free, fair, and credible.
Melaku Alebel, a member of the party’s Executive Committee and the Minister of Industry, stated that as both the governing and a competing party, the Prosperity Party is committed to the success of the next polls to build a "flourishing democracy" for future generations. He reaffirmed the party’s focus on consolidating an inclusive government that maintains public legitimacy.
The President of the Somali Region and Executive Committee member, Mustafe Mohammed, added that necessary preparations for the election are already being finalized. He noted that the party intends to work in coordination with other competing political groups and expressed confidence that the 7th election will be executed more effectively than the previous one.
During the session, senior leaders also reviewed the progress of peace and development projects promised during the 6th general election cycle. They highlighted major milestones, including the completion of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), alongside significant gains in tourism, agriculture, and urban development. The party leadership concluded by expressing a readiness to address and correct shortcomings observed over the past five years as they move forward.
