Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) has urged Ethiopians to play an active role in the 7th General Election scheduled for this May, describing the vote as a "decisive milestone" in the nation’s democratic journey.

In a message marking the 1,447th Eid al-Fitr, the Prime Minister reflected on Ethiopia’s long-standing pursuit of a robust democratic system. He noted that while the path has been challenging, the upcoming polls represent a critical transition toward a more stable and prosperous era.

Drawing a parallel to the discipline of Ramadan, the Prime Minister remarked that the strength of a future government is directly tied to the effort invested today. "A strong democracy cannot be built on weak public participation," he stated, warning that "if our participation is dim, our democracy will be dim as well."

The Prime Minister further cautioned that democratic institutions cannot flourish in a vacuum or amidst instability. He emphasized that the process requires a collective commitment to the "rules of the game," stability, and a spirit of cooperation to ensure the election serves as a foundation for lasting national progress.
