Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) announced that significant work is underway to develop tourism destinations that reflect Ethiopia’s ancient history and rich cultural heritage during the inauguration of the Haro Dendi Lodge, a project completed under the “Dine for the Generation” initiative.
In his address, the Prime Minister noted that Ethiopia previously lacked sufficient destinations to showcase its deep-rooted history, but the progress made through the “Dine for the Nation” and “Dine for the Generation” programs has effectively expanded the country's tourism footprint. Beyond the physical construction, he highlighted how these flagship projects have transformed the private sector's outlook, encouraging a wave of investors and developers to launch their own projects across the nation.
Looking ahead to the global stage, the Prime Minister revealed that as Ethiopia prepares to host the World Climate Change Conference (COP32), focused efforts are being made to quadruple the country’s hospitality capacity from 20,000 to 80,000 guest rooms. He concluded by emphasizing that the ultimate success of the tourism sector depends on a coordinated synergy between the industry, Ethiopian Airlines, road infrastructure, and reliable energy supply.
