Ethiopian cabinet ministers have unveiled a series of sweeping national reforms that have modernized the country’s social, economic, and health sectors, signaling a major shift toward digital integration and citizen empowerment. Health Minister Mekdes Daba announced a landmark update to a 30-year-old health policy, which now prioritizes a strategic balance between curative and preventive care while expanding digital health systems and Ethiopia’s role in global health diplomacy. 

This institutional growth is mirrored in the labor sector, where Minister for Labour and Skills Muferihat Kamil reported the creation of nearly 20 million jobs through local, international, and remote opportunities. This achievement was driven by the full digitalization of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system alongside a surge in entrepreneurship and business incubation. 

In tandem with economic growth, the social sector has seen massive gains under Minister Ergogie Tesfaye, with 26.8 million women and 4.3 million youth achieving economic empowerment through new inclusive policies and expanded social services for vulnerable populations. 

Meanwhile, Minister Shewit Shanka outlined a cultural and athletic renaissance that has transformed these sectors into national priorities, resulting in the recognition of 83 festivals, the launch of a digital heritage system, and the construction of over 17,000 sports facilities, including the flagship FIFA-accredited Adey Abeba Stadium. Collectively, these developments represent a unified effort to address long-standing systemic gaps and build a more resilient, modern, and inclusive national infrastructure.
