'If we work diligently through coordinated efforts, prosperity will become a way of life, and poverty will become history.' — Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh
In a recent message shared on his official Facebook page, Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh praised farmers around Lake Hayq for transitioning their lands from khat cultivation to thriving fruit and vegetable clusters. He emphasized that in a land blessed with fertile soil, clean water, and hardworking citizens, diligent and coordinated efforts will make prosperity a way of life and poverty a thing of the past.
By making this transition, the farmers have practically demonstrated the national directive to identify an area's comparative developmental potential and move toward a profitable, sustainable agricultural path.
The Deputy Prime Minister recalled the historic remarks made by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) during the inauguration of the Logo Hayq Resort, where he envisioned Hayq not only as a place of history but also as a center of fruit development, abundant harvests, beauty, and plenty. Today, those words have borne fruit as the Gobeya Kebele in the Tehuledere Woreda of the Amhara Region's South Wollo Zone is now covered by expansive agricultural clusters.
DPM Temesgen noted that this dedication to local development serves as a vital asset for Ethiopia's broader journey toward food sovereignty, reaffirming that the government will continue to provide the necessary support for these initiatives.
