PM Abiy Says One-Stop Shops Transform Ethiopian Service Delivery For Citizens

Ethiopia is rapidly expanding its One-Stop-Shop service delivery model, promising transparent and accessible public services across the nation. The initiative, championed by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, aims to streamline bureaucratic processes and eliminate inefficiencies that have long plagued government interactions.

The announcement of the expanded program came on New Year's Eve, with the launch of a new One-Stop-Shop offering 107 city administration services across 13 distinct institutions. This pilot centre, located in Addis Ababa, serves as a blueprint for further rollouts planned throughout the new year.

"As we close this year, our commitment to ensuring that government service delivery is efficient and effective continues," Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed stated. "The One-Stop-Shop service is expanding from federal services to regional and city administrations."

He emphasised the government's vision to make efficient service provision a pillar of good governance, providing citizens with timely, transparent, and accessible interactions.

The Ethiopian government plans to establish additional centres across the country, leveraging technology and data-driven insights to optimise service delivery. The long-term objective is to create a seamless and user-friendly public service experience for all citizens. The success of this program is viewed as crucial to Ethiopia's broader reform agenda, aimed at fostering a more inclusive and prosperous society, according to the Premier.
