The public has shown strong support for the development projects underway in Addis Ababa, according to Mayor Adanech Abiebie.

In an interview with ETV, the mayor stated that the city's growth has been inclusive, benefiting all residents, and that the Ethiopian people have consistently stood by the administration's efforts to beautify and improve the capital.

She acknowledged that some individuals initially expressed differing views due to a misunderstanding of the projects' objectives but later became supportive upon realizing the projects' true purpose. The mayor also addressed the spread of misinformation, asserting that the administration has demonstrated through its actions that the goal is a "pure" one: to construct better homes and infrastructure for the city.

Mayor Adanech highlighted that many residents are happy and proud of the completed projects. She specifically noted that while a number of people were relocated for major developments, such as the projects in Kazanchis and the riverside areas, the public did not oppose the moves, understanding that the purpose was for the greater good.

"The public openly says they have received something better, and our focus is on the people who elected us," she stated.

The mayor also pointed out that Addis Ababa is becoming a more livable city for its residents and an increasingly popular destination for tourists. She acknowledged the challenges faced during the city's reconstruction but emphasized that by working late into the night and during off-peak hours to avoid traffic disruption, they successfully changed the work culture.

Mayor Adanech concluded by saying that the city has undertaken "great work" that enables it to be compared favorably to other major cities worldwide.
