The Ethiopian Pharmaceutical Supply Service (EPSS) and Ethio Telecom have signed an agreement to provide a smart health supply chain solution.

This agreement aims to support the nationwide supply of medicines and medical equipment with a modern, data-driven supply chain solution.

The digital solution will enable a uniform process and control, supported by artificial intelligence for enhanced security. This will allow for data-driven decision-making, streamlining EPSS operations, reducing workload, improving drug control, and ensuring legal compliance.

According to Dr. Abdulkadir Galgalo, the Director General of EPSS, the agreement is crucial for digitizing the sector, as the pharmaceutical supply chain requires minimal human contact to be effective.

In turn, Health Minister Mekdes Daba highlighted that the digital solution is vital for establishing trust and transparency in the health sector, and will facilitate a reliable and efficient procurement and supply service.
