Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s new book, The Medemer Government, offers a deep examination of Ethiopia’s challenges and presents a clear roadmap for solutions, according to Getachew Reda, the Prime Minister's Advisor on East Africa Affairs.
Speaking at the book's launch ceremony, Getachew described the publication as a comprehensive overview of Ethiopia’s current situation, focusing on practical and foundational solutions. He said the book is a work born from a philosophy of deliberate thought, not regret, and argues for a new approach that builds upon positive achievements while constructively addressing problems.
According to Getachew, this mindset represents a fundamental shift from the nation's historical "winner-takes-all" political culture. The book points to a modern political model that moves beyond zero-sum games, where progress for one party does not come at the expense of others. He added that the book also provides a clear direction for citizens to fulfill their dreams of living with dignity beyond their basic needs.
Getachew pointed to the "creation and speed" model, a core tenet of the Medemer philosophy, as a proven solution to the nation's complex problems. He cited the transformation of Addis Ababa as a prime example, noting that the work has fostered a new culture of productivity and hope. He urged that this momentum and optimism now be extended to all corners of the country.
The advisor concluded by noting the book’s accessible style and called on all Ethiopians to read it.
